Porporpeius...bodiless and drunk

One of the little-known God Deitys of water and air is Porporpeius, who you may remember from his booming music career during the Blues revival of the 1960s. Heavy drug use and a failed suicide attempt during the late 1970s drove Porporpeius to confront his half-brother Neptune about his rights to the Kingdom of Atlantis. Unfortunately, Porporpeius fell off the wagon just before this confrontation and after causing a dreadful scene at Neptune's son's birthday party, Neptune decided to sever Porporpeius' head and hide his body in the darkest depths of the sea. For the past 40 years, the bodiless Porporpeius has been strung out on cheap liquor and cheaper drugs, searching every square inch of the Earth for his missing body but to no avail.

Porporpeius, by Ben Newman, realised by Felix Wentworth.

Richard Wentworth, Terra Firma 2009

"I like menus, I like the gap between desire and text and interpretation.  It's a social thing, coursing across the print, watching the maths, eyeing the props, taking pleasure in my ignorance, editing and re-editing.  You plan a risk, you rehearse a conservative choice, you plunge in.  It's only ingredients, processes and procedures but there is room to extemporise, to play clerk of works, to write a short play, to paint by numbers.  Talking is the same, just quicker.  I like using words to order and I like unfamiliar words.  I have, for want of language, pointed at other people's dishes and, very occasionally, I have ordered by numbers." Quantum Entanglement

From this...

To this...

James Dawe wows us with his large scale wall collages, in his peice called Quantum Entanglement: an entanglement of small objects and organisms, from man-mad and natural worlds, which have been shaken up in a vacuum-like machine and spewed out decadently down the Selfridges staircaes. You really need to see this close up!
